A brocation is a vacation or trip taken exclusively by male friends, typically without romantic partners, family members, or mixed-gender social obligations. The term is a portmanteau of “bro” and “vacation,” and it describes a ritualized form of male bonding that emphasizes leisure, drinking, sports, gaming, outdoor adventure, or simply unstructured hanging out. Brocations can range from a weekend golf trip to Las Vegas, a camping expedition in the Rockies, a week-long “lads’ holiday” to Ibiza or Cancún, or a bachelor party that somehow extends into a four-day bender.
