The word comes from “orgasm,” but in internet slang, it has detached from anything sexual. A “foodgasm” is not arousal; it is the feeling of biting into something so good that your eyes roll back. A “eargasm” happens when a song hits exactly right. “Brain-gasm,” “cleaning-gasm,” “font-gasm” — if a human can obsess over it, someone has added -gasm to it.
The suffix works because it communicates extremity without needing explanation. You do not say “that pizza was very good.” You say “pizza-gasm.” The meaning is immediate: this was not just pleasure. This was peak pleasure.
