Asking Alexandria is a British metalcore band formed in Dubai in 2008 by Ben Bruce (guitar) and Danny Worsnop (vocals). The band relocated to the UK and released their debut album Stand Up And Scream in 2009, which became a defining record of the “scene” era of metalcore — characterized by Auto-Tuned clean choruses, breakdown-heavy instrumentation, and lyrics about partying, heartbreak, and rebellion. The band’s 2011 album Reckless & Relentless solidified their status as one of the biggest bands in the genre, featuring singles like “The Final Episode (Let’s Change the Channel)” and “Not the American Average.” Asking Alexandria’s history is marked by lineup changes and stylistic shifts: vocalist Danny Worsnop left in 2015 to pursue a hard rock solo career, was replaced by Denis Stoff, then returned in 2016. The band has since experimented with more radio-friendly rock and even 1980s-inspired hard rock sounds, alienating some original fans while gaining new ones.
