Anthony Weiner (born 1964) is a former American politician who served as a U.S. Representative from New York from 1999 to 2011. Weiner was a rising star in the Democratic Party — a fiery progressive, a skilled media performer, and a likely future mayor of New York City. Then, in 2011, he accidentally posted a sexually explicit photo of himself on Twitter, claiming his account had been hacked. The lie collapsed within days.
